PIAZZA BOOK WINS INDEPENDENT PUBLISHERS' GOLD MEDAL FOR BEST COFFEE TABLE BOOK
KETCHUM, ID (June 12, 2007) Eccola Press is pleased to announce that its book, Piazza: Italy's Heart & Soul by author/photographer team Joe Bauwens and Marybeth Flower, was selected as the winner of the "Best Coffee Table Book" category at the 11th Annual Independent Publisher Book Awards. The contest honors the year's best independent, university, and self-published titles. The IPPY Awards were presented at BookExpo America 2007 in New York City on June 1st.
Titles were submitted for the 2007 awards by publishers from all 50 U.S. states, 8 Canadian provinces, and 17 overseas countries. "What impressed us about this year's entries was the passion and commitment of the authors for their topics," said Jim Barnes, awards director.
Inspired by a passion for Italy and Italian culture, Bauwens and Flower spent five months documenting the vibrant living stories that flourish in Italian town squares both large and small. The book features 250 photographs in vivid color of Italy's piazzas. The stunning images capture the warmth, joy, and delight of Italian life. Joe Siegel, Entertainment Critic for "Good Morning America" says, "I'm betting you'll be on the phone with your travel agent by page 15."
