THE NATIONAL GALLERY IN WASHINGTON D.C. AND THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO MUSEUM STORES ARE NOW CARRYING THE PIAZZA BOOK
KETCHUM, IDAHO (February 5, 2007) ~ The stores of the above mentioned museums and the Guggenheim-Hermitage are now selling Piazza: Italy's Heart & Soul, a book by Idaho photographers Joe Bauwens and Marybeth Flower.
This husband and wife team, Bauwens & Flower, learned photography in order to create this book. Their love affair with Italy and the Italian people has led them to Italy on numerous occasions. On a trip to Italy many years ago they were struck by the unique personality of each town square. They spent years researching the piazzas in towns throughout Italy for a photographic book. This coffee table book, designed by Constance Phelps, former Art Director and Senior Editor of National Geographic Magazine, focuses on how the townspeople live within their squares. It is a first of its kind book, as other books about Italian towns focus on the architecture or landscapes, and not on the Italian people. The essence of Italian life and culture has been captured through their photographs.
